The A/W Edit

The month of September marks many things: the end of summer, going back to school and colder weather. But looking on the bright side, it also means it's time to get those coats out of storage and start talking Autumn Winter fashion! Last year I wrote a post called 'A/W Essentials' - side-note my blog is now one year old! - and I thought it was time to publish a revised post showing a collection of my favourite pieces and trends for A/W 2015. Unfortunately I won't be buying these particular items as I'm moving abroad to Germany next month with limited luggage (I already own quite a few clothes) but I'll be certainly be doing some shopping while I'm out there - watch this space!

1. The Furry Coat

The stylish way to walk from A to B. This beautiful Miss Selfridge pale blue pea coat is the perfect foundation for any A/W wardrobe. It will go with everything!

2. The Statement Coat

Though a more difficult print to work with, Topshop's cord floral coat will certainly turn heads and look amazing with the classic autumnal colours such as burgundy, grey and maroon. 

3. The Shift Dress

I spotted this little beauty of a dress in Miss Selfridge yesterday and fell in love, especially when I found out it's only £39. Snap it up before it's sold out. 

4. The Floral Skirt 

Party season is coming up and how cute would this gold floral jacquard skirt by River Island look with a black lace cami top. Someone send me this to Germany please?

5. The Kooky Tee

River Island never fails to impress me with their pretty T-shirts and this one is no exception. It's not too dissimilar to the one I posted about last year; eyelashes are a recurring theme here which might explain my obsession with Lulu Guiness...

6. The 'Go-with-everything' Blazer

I recently bought one of these waterfall blazers from New Look in a grey floral print; they're flattering, lightweight and affordable. What's not to love?

7. The Pretty Blouse

Finally, a white blouse is a staple piece for any wardrobe and I love the collar on this Zara long-sleeved lace top. Dressed up or down, you really can't go wrong.

Venice Lookbook

After the success of my Rome Lookbook back in April, I'm excited to share my Venice Lookbook today after a gorgeous two weeks holidaying with my family. Combining my love of fashion with some beautiful Italian backdrops has been a dream and I hope you like some of the looks I've put together. Miss Selfridge Dress

A classic Venice backdrop on one of the many bridges over the Grand Canal, here I'm wearing a Miss Selfridge jacquard boycon dress which is also featured in my Post-Exam Fashion Haul. This dress is one of the comfiest items of clothing I own and stylish enough for any summer getaway - it's a win-win.

I confess I'm not actually in Venice here, it's Verona. More specifically, I'm at the Verona opera house which is reminiscent of the Colloseum structure-wise but not quite as big. I'll include more photos of this in a future post but I'd thoroughly recommend a visit. The top and skirt are both Zara (part of my Rome Haul) and my bag is a new addition from a cute Italian chain called DANNI.

Always a monochrome fan, I'm obsessed by this shirt and shorts combo and it looks fab with a tan. Add a simple necklace, wedges and you have yourself a classic summer drinks look. Snap up these beauties while they're still in stock!

You might recognize this pretty H&M slogan T-Shirt from my Rome Lookbook but here I've swapped my black Joni jeans for my blue scalloped shorts from Topshop to add a fresh summer feel.

River Island Logo T-shirt

Pretty sweet view of the mountains, am I right? I'll be posting about our visit to Cortina and the Dolomite mountains very soon. Getting back to the fashion side of things, I chose to wear a graphic River Island tee (which is now in the sale - go, go) and some simple striped denim shorts.

Finally this nude pink Topshop dress with corset-style detailing on the sides is my favourite summer outfit to make a fashion statement. The skater-style shape is flattering, ladylike and easy to wear. All you need is a simple black bag to complete the Audrey-esque ensemble.

Christmas Dresses: My High Street Picks

Christmas party season is just around the corner and nothing motivates me to work more than the thought of a new Christmas outfit. I don't have anything planned so far but it's always good to be prepared, right? There's nothing worse than being invited out at the last minute and having nothing to wear. This year, my favourite seasonal party styles are velvet, sequins and rose gold. I'll admit, these styles aren't exactly radical but they are truly classically 'Christmas' and they come back into fashion year after year for a reason. The 'My High Street Picks' series has now become one of my favourite types of posts to write and readers seem to enjoy them so please comment if you have any thoughts about it.  

1. How beautiful is this dark purple velvet and lace number? As seen on the model it can be dressed down with a hat and chunky boots but it can look equally sophisticated with heels and a clutch. The brand is Oh My Love which can also be purchased on the Topshop website.

2. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it and the price is amazing! New Look are really killing it with their Christmas formal wear this year.

3. Again from New Look but in the Premium range, this stunning sequinned dress would be perfect for any Christmas party. I'd tone down the accessories though and stick to black heels, smokey eyes and neutral lips to give the dress the attention it deserves!

4. Yes there's more velvet. No I'm not sorry. I spotted this navy velvet dress on Asos and I love the silhouette style - it's very Audrey Hepburn.

5. Finally, leaving my favourite until last, this Miss Selfridge dress is probably one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. The design reminds me of The Great Gatsby so if you have a themed Christmas party whether it be Gatsby, the Oscars or Hollywood, this is the dress for you.

OOTN - Floral Monochrome Co-ord

If you read my post Co-ords: My High Street Picks, you'll know that I've been in the market for my first Co-ord; I find the style really interesting and flattering on most shapes. I spotted this set in Miss Selfridge a few weeks ago and couldn't resist - there was also a 20% student discount promotion which helped to justify the purchase! As you can see, I didn't wear any statement jewellery for this look as I didn't want to draw any attention away from the amazing monochrome floral print. The occasion for this outfit was a night out at University; please ignore the map - it was someone else's house!

A/W Essentials

Since September is nearly upon us, I thought it would be fun to create an Autumn Winter 2014 Essentials Collection - all from the UK High Street. As I'm on a student budget, all pieces are wearable with other clothes I already own, making these items very versatile. Luckily I'm drawn to items that are classic and timeless so I'm not too affected by short-lived trends. Additionally, I always think - What would Audrey Wear? Her style certainly doesn't date.

This post is all about building a capsule A/W wardrobe that won't require another student loan and epitomizes cold weather chic.

1. Black Chelsea Boots

An essential for work / sixth form / University. I lived in mine last year and they can be styled up or down, depending on the occasion. My favourite way to wear them is with a skater dress, black opaque tights and a woolly knit. My pick here is from Topshop - Month Chelsea Boots, £45, however I recommend Clarks if you're looking for something more long-lasting.





2. Printed Scarf

Nothing says Autumn quite like a warm printed scarf. Whether it be winter florals, houndstooth or simple stripes, the bolder the better! I'll be teaming my tartan scarf with a black leather jacket, a plain white T-shirt and - of course - my Chelsea Boots. This one is from Zara - £19.99 - but New Look stock ones just as bold.






3. The Statement Coat / Jacket


This Miss Selfridge Duster Jacket is the perfect transitional piece from the end of the UK 'Summer' going into Autumn. It's not quite a coat but it's more weather-resistant than your typical cardigan. It could also be worn under a coat in the Winter. At £35 I think I may be tempted to invest in this soon..







4. The Blazer

Sticking with the theme of jackets, no A/W wardrobe would be complete without a structured blazer. This wine-coloured piece from New Look is a great buy at £27.99 and I wouldn't be surprised if it's earned it's way into my wardrobe. I can see myself wearing this on days at University when I want to look sophisticated but not too corporate. Audrey would have LOVED this.





5. The Slogan Tee


In the past few months, Zara have released a selection of beautiful T-Shirts and this has to be one of my favourites. It's so Audrey. It screams 'stylish', 'elegant' and 'classic monochrome'. And at £12.99 it's not going to break the bank. 








6. The Pastel Knit 

Pastel isn't going anywhere this season and this cute jumper would look perfect with a white collared blouse underneath - the ideal layering piece! For me, it would definitely be a lecture outfit due to it's ultimate comfort and cosiness. It's £25 from River Island.
