The A/W Edit

The month of September marks many things: the end of summer, going back to school and colder weather. But looking on the bright side, it also means it's time to get those coats out of storage and start talking Autumn Winter fashion! Last year I wrote a post called 'A/W Essentials' - side-note my blog is now one year old! - and I thought it was time to publish a revised post showing a collection of my favourite pieces and trends for A/W 2015. Unfortunately I won't be buying these particular items as I'm moving abroad to Germany next month with limited luggage (I already own quite a few clothes) but I'll be certainly be doing some shopping while I'm out there - watch this space!

1. The Furry Coat

The stylish way to walk from A to B. This beautiful Miss Selfridge pale blue pea coat is the perfect foundation for any A/W wardrobe. It will go with everything!

2. The Statement Coat

Though a more difficult print to work with, Topshop's cord floral coat will certainly turn heads and look amazing with the classic autumnal colours such as burgundy, grey and maroon. 

3. The Shift Dress

I spotted this little beauty of a dress in Miss Selfridge yesterday and fell in love, especially when I found out it's only £39. Snap it up before it's sold out. 

4. The Floral Skirt 

Party season is coming up and how cute would this gold floral jacquard skirt by River Island look with a black lace cami top. Someone send me this to Germany please?

5. The Kooky Tee

River Island never fails to impress me with their pretty T-shirts and this one is no exception. It's not too dissimilar to the one I posted about last year; eyelashes are a recurring theme here which might explain my obsession with Lulu Guiness...

6. The 'Go-with-everything' Blazer

I recently bought one of these waterfall blazers from New Look in a grey floral print; they're flattering, lightweight and affordable. What's not to love?

7. The Pretty Blouse

Finally, a white blouse is a staple piece for any wardrobe and I love the collar on this Zara long-sleeved lace top. Dressed up or down, you really can't go wrong.

Venice Lookbook

After the success of my Rome Lookbook back in April, I'm excited to share my Venice Lookbook today after a gorgeous two weeks holidaying with my family. Combining my love of fashion with some beautiful Italian backdrops has been a dream and I hope you like some of the looks I've put together. Miss Selfridge Dress

A classic Venice backdrop on one of the many bridges over the Grand Canal, here I'm wearing a Miss Selfridge jacquard boycon dress which is also featured in my Post-Exam Fashion Haul. This dress is one of the comfiest items of clothing I own and stylish enough for any summer getaway - it's a win-win.

I confess I'm not actually in Venice here, it's Verona. More specifically, I'm at the Verona opera house which is reminiscent of the Colloseum structure-wise but not quite as big. I'll include more photos of this in a future post but I'd thoroughly recommend a visit. The top and skirt are both Zara (part of my Rome Haul) and my bag is a new addition from a cute Italian chain called DANNI.

Always a monochrome fan, I'm obsessed by this shirt and shorts combo and it looks fab with a tan. Add a simple necklace, wedges and you have yourself a classic summer drinks look. Snap up these beauties while they're still in stock!

You might recognize this pretty H&M slogan T-Shirt from my Rome Lookbook but here I've swapped my black Joni jeans for my blue scalloped shorts from Topshop to add a fresh summer feel.

River Island Logo T-shirt

Pretty sweet view of the mountains, am I right? I'll be posting about our visit to Cortina and the Dolomite mountains very soon. Getting back to the fashion side of things, I chose to wear a graphic River Island tee (which is now in the sale - go, go) and some simple striped denim shorts.

Finally this nude pink Topshop dress with corset-style detailing on the sides is my favourite summer outfit to make a fashion statement. The skater-style shape is flattering, ladylike and easy to wear. All you need is a simple black bag to complete the Audrey-esque ensemble.

Topshop April Wishlist

The Topshop website is without a doubt one of my guilty pleasures in life. I love checking the 'new in' section and having a browse at some of their newest fashion offerings. Of course, being a student while I do this, it can be a tiny bit difficult not to mindlessly add all these things to my basket! As a form of therapy, I thought it might be fun to write up a little Topshop wishlist and hopefully you might gain some fashion inspiration or even just enjoy having a look, as I usually do. As you can tell, I'm definitely loving spring pastels, lace, and bold prints this season and I can't wait to see what the brand brings out next. Keep an eye out for more fashion posts this week as I will be posting my Rome lookbook very soon.

Spring Wardrobe Update and Style Staples

My wardrobe has been due a spring update for a while and I've found some gorgeous pieces on the UK High Street recently that I wanted to share with you all! It all started with this beautiful cobalt blazer which I bought in the Oasis Leeds store - featured in my Good Friday OOTN - and from then on, my whole spring wardrobe has been based around this colour palette. Cobalt blue works fantastically with monochrome tones as well as pastel shades, especially muted pinks. I can't wait to wear these items in Rome when I go with my family on a city break there later this week and I'm hoping to create a mini lookbook with some lovely backdrops! Here's the collection..

The amazing River Island top on the left was actually a cheeky little sale find - reduced to only £15. I'll warn you that the style is quite oversized so if ordering online, it might be a good idea to downsize. I've also included a little selfie from my Instagram where I'm wearing it! On the right side is a beautiful H&M french-inspired tee which is a gorgeous material - very impressed. 

The River Island (full price, sob) top on the left looks great with black jeans for a laid-back look whereas I'll be wearing the cream Zara sleeveless top for a more elegant ensemble. To pull the outfit together I purchased some simple pastel jewellery in the form of some Oasis drop earrings - which were only £3 in the sale - and a H&M statement flower necklace.   

Finally I thought my Oasis blazer deserved its own photo as it's my go-to spring summer style staple. Love at first sight! Unfortunately this item is sold out online but I've linked a few similar styles if you're interested in finding something like it. 

I hope you've enjoyed this post and have gathered a little outfit inspiration for spring. Adding some colour to your wardrobe is the best way to boost your mood and confidence. As one of my tops says, pourquoi pas? (why not?)

Good Friday OOTN

Happy Easter Weekend! I hope you're all having a lovely time with family and friends, with the added bonus of a long weekend! For Good Friday I was out with a few old school friends for a few cocktails and a long overdue catch up. After spending so much time working on uni projects I was very excited to get dressed up in one of my new outfits! The Topshop skirt has appeared in an OOTD here but I thought it looked fantastic with my new Zara blouse, H&M necklace and Oasis blazer for a more evening look. They will be appearing in a style post (with links) over the next few days which I can't wait to share with you! 

 Had to include a photo of the French martinis! What are your plans for the Easter weekend?

OOTN - Pastel Princess

Happy Friday everyone, it's nearly the weekend! Personally I've found this week quite stressful due to looming essay deadlines so this weekend will be used to catch up on sleep and relax. This beautiful pink jumper featured in my recent haul post which you can read here; I love the embellished detail and short sleeves. I wouldn't say pastels is a common trend for Autumn Winter as most high street shops in the UK are stocking dark, gothic colours or interesting textures such as velvet and sequins. On the other hand, I think pastels can be worn all year round and if I'd had time I would have painted my nails with Essie's 'Mint Candy Apple' to complete the look. I wore this outfit on a cinema date last night (to see Interstellar) and I think this jumper is the perfect way to add some glamour to an outfit without going over the top. I can't find the exact jumper online, however there is a similar version also from Dorothy Perkins here.

Fashion & Beauty Haul - Topshop, River Island, Dorothy Perkins

So it's time for another haul! I was lucky enough to be taken shopping in my home town when I was back for the weekend and I found some amazing things! 

As explained in my post 'Uni Bags - My High Street Picks' my satchel broke a few weeks ago and I've been in desperate need of a replacement. Cue this gorgeous River Island upgrade! The neutral colour scheme is very 'me' as it epitomizes ladylike chic. The size is perfect for uni and the cross body straps mean I won't get neck ache from all my books! It was fairly expensive at £45, I was fortunately shopping with my generous mother at the time, but a good uni bag is an investment for any uni student. It's also one of the most beautiful bags I've ever seen. Unfortunately I struggled to find it online, but check your local River Island to see it in its true glory.

The Blush Pink Embellished Jumper is from Dorothy Perkins and was £26. Again, I can't find it online, but I'll do some more research when I include it as part of an OOTD. The rose gold earrings are from Topshop and were such a bargain price I couldn't resist. Also, I bought my first Topshop Lipstick and the shade is Macaroon. Finally, I included this month's Cosmopolitan as Taylor Swift is the cover star in this issue! Taylor Swift Inspired Fashion

With the new release of Taylor Swift's amazing new album 1989 (Anyone love the song 'Welcome to New York'?), I thought it would be fun to take a look of some of the UK's newest high street offerings and pick out some Taylor-inspired outfits! I am always getting style inspiration from Miss Swift; her style is very feminine and put-together which I adore. 

#1  It's a well known fact that Taylor loves to wear red and these jeans are a great way to add a pop of colour to your wardrobe. Combine the jeans with a red lipstick, a leather jacket and some black chelsea boots and you're good to go!

OOTN - A Two-Tone Floral Situation

Believe it or not, I managed to buy this stunning Topshop 'Photo Floral Print Bodycon Dress' at an equally stunning price. Admittedly, this dress was bought a few weeks ago (before I started rationing my student loan, cry) but it was definitely a purchase I do not regret! It was originally £36 but then discounted to £25 and then £22.50 with student discount - I'm still in shock. Additionally there are still a few sizes in stock online here. The dress is a lovely scuba material which is obviously quite figure-hugging but the interesting graphic print definitely takes centre stage here. It's the perfect date night cocktail dress, which is exactly what I used it as here! I've also had my hair cut and coloured recently, it doesn't look dramatically different but I can tell that it looks in a better condition. Doesn't every girl need a night out after a hair change?

OOTN - Floral Monochrome Co-ord

If you read my post Co-ords: My High Street Picks, you'll know that I've been in the market for my first Co-ord; I find the style really interesting and flattering on most shapes. I spotted this set in Miss Selfridge a few weeks ago and couldn't resist - there was also a 20% student discount promotion which helped to justify the purchase! As you can see, I didn't wear any statement jewellery for this look as I didn't want to draw any attention away from the amazing monochrome floral print. The occasion for this outfit was a night out at University; please ignore the map - it was someone else's house!

October Student Haul - Fashion and Beauty

It's officially been two weeks since I moved back to my University town and what better way to celebrate than to have a little shopping spree?! I'll admit this isn't *everything* I've bought recently, however many of the clothes I've invested in will be featuring in future OOTD's (including a Co-ord as promised!). The shopping trip wasn't a particularly sunny day, which is why the items are more suitable for the A/W months - I was definitely in the mood for darker tones in my wardrobe. 

Firstly, the Jeans are from Next, a necessity for any student! This particular pair are dark toned High Waisted Jeans, priced around £30. The Boots Christmas Catalogue and Glamour Magazine are this month's Must-Reads for me - I am a huge fan of Keira Knightley! The umbrella is from Boots, £13.

The shoes were the basis of the trip as I've been lacking some nice going out shoes that won't ruin my feet; also as a tall girl I don't feel particularly comfortable going out in massive high heels! These black ballerina flats were £32 from Monsoon and come in half sizes (so happy about this!) and a variety of styles.

This eyeshadow is one of the new Loreal L'Ombre Pure eyeshadows and the shade is 602 'Plume de Paon'. I've been really impressed with the quality so far and the colour is beautifully versatile - I've worn it during the day as well as nights out. Even the till assistant at Boots commented on the lovely colour!
